If you ever have the chance to catch Moon Hooch on tour, buy those tickets. You won’t regret it! Moon Hooch is a trio of two epic saxophone players and a groove-heavy drummer. Originating from Brooklyn, New York, Moon Hooch drew dancing crowds by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the subway until the NYPD told them they had to perform elsewhere due to people dancing too close to the platform. Starting in 2010 their show has evolved from entirely acoustic sets in the streets to incorporating electronic samples and exotic woodwinds into their live sets at renowned venues.

Moon Hooch continues to play the most infectious grooves that are impossible to avoid dancing to. On tour, they played from their impressive discography from 2013 all the way until now, 2025! The added electronic samples made the show all the more enjoyable. I have seen Moon Hooch three times and can attest that each show gets more impressive every time!

Moon Hooch is also committed to promoting environmentalism and consciousness through their music and tours. From playing benefit shows to supporting local farmers and raffling off trees to plant at their shows, this trio certainly supports living green and positive change.

My reflection: My favorite part of seeing Moon Hooch was looking around me and seeing everyone in the room dancing and enjoying themselves. There were minimal phones in the air. Most people only took a quick picture or video and shoved their phone back in their pocket to enjoy the rest of the set. It’s so rare to see people focusing on something greater than social media today (as someone who is 27 years old).

Beyond that, I saw the message that Moon Hooch was trying to convey through their music exhibited in the crowd: peace, consciousness, and love. Sure, call me a hippy, but it was surreal as I felt like I stepped back into a simpler time where people enjoyed the moment and the company of those around them instead of their next Instagram post. Don’t get me wrong, social media can be good for some things like holding memories and communicating with people we care about, but I find the most solace in enjoying the moment and dancing to my hearts content (to my Fitbit lovers I scored 136 zone minutes just from dancing to Moon Hooch).

I also recommend wearing something fun to the show and coming with friends as it elevates the experience! I wore these light-up scrunchies!

Moon Hooch is continuing their tour, so catch them at a city near you! Check the dates HERE. If this is your first time hearing about Moon Hooch, congrats! You just discovered a great artist! Check out their music HERE!

As always,

Stay fabulous.
