Seven Stars: the Cosmic Return of Griz

I had the privilege of attending the very first Seven Stars Music Festival and witnessing the return of Griz, here’s what I though of it…

As a chronic music junkie and concert-goer, Seven Stars was the greatest music festival I have ever attended. The set-up of this festival was nothing short of spectacular.

Attending the first year of any festival is always a shot in the dark, so I was skeptical. However, when we arrived there was no line at security, a few happy parking attendants directed up to our camping spot and the campgrounds had a great layout. No campsite was too far from the venue, there were signs directing attendees, and we had plenty of room at our campsite. My only complaint about camping was that the bathrooms frequently ran out of toilet paper. Pro tip: always carry toilet paper or wipes at ANY festival…

But that was only the start! We got our cute festival fits on and headed into the main venue which featured two unique stages, several food and drink options, vendors, a merch store, and even a fun tie-dye activity! Security was the smoothest I’ve ever seen at a festival and it was always easy to get in and out. Even when the line was long, it moved quickly.

There were even more adventures outside the venue and in the campgrounds! Three smaller stages were set up for surprise B2Bs, afters, and some daytime sets. The only downside here is that some of the smaller stages were a far walk dependent on where your campsite is. There were also side quests to check out like the constellation quest and the Seven Stars General Store.

But what I loved the most about Seven Stars was the pure authenticity.

Everyone we spoke to was excited to be there and be a part of Griz’s comeback to the EDM scene. The energy of the crowd was immaculate. Griz shared a heartfelt speech along with some tears. His vulnerability made his comeback so much more memorable and relateable to all of his fans. Every DJ genuinely seemed extremely grateful and happy to be part of Seven Stars and to share the experience with Griz and the attendees.

Seven Stars gave us all the opportunity to be silly, funky, energetic, and emotional. There aren’t many spaces left in the world for that kind of vulnerability. It made the festival a unique experience.

When Griz played his “Chasing the Golden Hour” set, there was a magnificent sunset over the valley that seemed almost too perfect for the moment. A moment that made you feel grateful to be alive. A sunset I can only describe as a God-given gift.

One message that Griz gave throughout the weekend was the power of being present and that “all we have is this given moment.” In a world where it’s so easy to get distracted, Seven Stars gave us the opportunity to pause, to reflect, and to be present.

In being present, I met tons of kind people, saw some mind-blowing sets, did fun activities, and even simply relaxed at my campsite. Believe it or not… I didn’t think about work the whole time.

This wasn’t one of my typical festival reviews.. but I hope you enjoyed reading about what Seven Stars was really like and even what I learned while I was there.

As always,

Stay fabulous…
