Lost Lands music festival is not for the weak!
Lost Lands is an incredible experience for any basshead or EDM fanatic, but it’s helpful to know they ins and outs and to have a plan.
Excision created this festival to be a home for heavy bass music and ravers of all kinds. The unique prehistoric theme makes it all the more fun to explore!

Whether it’s your first time entering the bass-filled prehistoric world of Lost Lands or you’re a seasoned raver ready to reunite with the dinos, this guide will help you maximize fun, stay safe, and create unforgettable memories
Plan Ahead, Always
It’s best practice to buy tickets, camping passes, and parking as soon as you are able. Lost Lands sells out every single year, and the longer you wait to buy tickets, the more expensive they will be. The same goes for hotels and Airbnb. With around 60-70 thousand attendees every year, rooms will go fast and become pricier the longer you wait. (Keep your eyes out for my next post about camping with a detailed list!)
Plan to have zero cell service for most of the festival. There is some cell signal, however, with the amount of attendees trying to use it, it’s unlikely that it will be usable. Take screenshots of schedules and maps, add them to your favorites or make it your phone background. Have an alternative way to meet up with your friends like a meeting spot or using a totem (check festival rules about totems).
To aid your planning, there are a lot of groups on Facebook and Reddit where festival goers can ask and answer questions. I find these groups helpful because you can connect with attendees who have more experience with the festival year after year.
Set Times & Must-See Artists
Download the Lost Lands app ahead of time to consider which sets are a must-see and decide on any possible conflicts. Do NOT schedule too many sets with no breaks in between. You WILL get tired, and there will be sets that you’ll need to miss or take a break for. The app will also show you which artists are playing which stages and what time they’ll be up. Do this step prior to the festival since there’s a good chance the app will be hard to access through cell service.

Embrace the Experience
Lost Lands is a place to be wild and weird! Embrace self-expression, wear crazy outfits, and make trinkets to trade at the festival. Be sure to explore the grounds to check out the art installations, the creative stages, and maybe try a side quest!
Stay Safe & Hydrate
Here’s a brief mom note: Lost Lands gets very hot during the day. Make sure to drink enough water to sustain your body while dancing all night long. There are free water stations at the festival if you bring a refillable container or hydration pack (get it early, as there are usually long lines later in the day).
Stay SAFE!! It is inevitable that at Lost Lands there are many attendees doing substances, so be aware of your surroundings and always carry Narcan in case a fellow attendee needs it. There are many organizations that will give out free Narcan if you search in your local community. Harm reduction can prevent unnecessary death!
Let Go & Get Lost!
Lost Lands isn’t just a festival, but an experience to remember. Embrace the weirdness, the bass, the costumes, the new friends, and the energy. Capture the moment and snap some pics, but be present and don’t live behind your screen. You never know what you’ll miss.
As always,
Stay fabulous…
