Breakaway was an amazing festival with a diverse line-up and room for side quests along the way! Despite this festival being smaller than most EDM festivals, it was well worth the money for the experience. Here’s my guide for anyone considering attending in the future!

Ticketing & Entry:
- Breakaway offered several ticketing options, including General Admission, VIP, Space Deck Terrace (21+), and Ultimate VIP. Which one should you get? Depends on what you want for your experience. I purchased General Admission, which still offered the full experience minus the perks. The viewing areas for VIP, Space Deck Terrace, and Ultimate VIP were in great locations and certainly offered a great view. Depending which ticket you purchase you may also be able to get some extra perks like a designated table, access to VIP lounges, and premium food & beverage options.
- The best time to purchase tickets is ASAP! The longer you wait to purchase tickets, the more the prices increase. This festival is pretty affordable; I purchased my tickets early for under $150 for both days.
- For entry, arrive at the festival about an hour BEFORE the set you want to see. You will most likely need to wait in line for a bit. If the weather is bad, sets may be cut or pushed back, so make sure to follow Breakaway on their social media.
- Security was light, and it moves quickly- do with that information what you will, and be sure to check the prohibited items list before the festival so you don’t get held up.

Festival Essentials: Tips to Have a Great Time and Leave it All Behind!
- Plan your day in advance! Check daily set times (when released) so you don’t miss your must‑see acts. With multiple stages, overlapping sets are likely. Look at the lineup schedules.
- Stay hydrated and dress smart. Empty hydration packs and plastic water bottles are allowed in the festival, and they offer free water refills. You can still be a rave baddie and dress comfortably! Wear layers for varying temperatures and comfortable, waterproof shoes since you’ll be standing A LOT. Bring a rain poncho just in case of a surprise rain storm.
- This festival is entirely cashless, so make sure you have a cashless way to pay. Pro tip: They will give you a discount if you use Cash App Pay.
- Breakaway has a festival map you can screenshot for navigation. This festival is fairly small so it’s easy to find your way around, but I always recommend having a meeting spot with your friends.
- Parking may be limited, and rideshare can be expensive/difficult during peak hours… PLAN AHEAD!
- Camping is not an option for this festival, so if you need a place to stay, look into hotels as soon as the dates for your city are released. Prices will skyrocket the longer you wait.
- If you need accommodations for accessibility, Breakaway allows service animals and offers ASL interpreters. Though, because this festival is held outdoors, the ground may be uneven/without curb cuts for attendees with wheelchairs. I recommend reaching out to the festival if you need accommodations.

What makes Breakaway special?
- I’ve been to a lot of festivals, but Breakaway felt different because it was a smaller, more intimate setting than most festivals. I had so much fun interacting with other attendees and often ran into people more than once.
- Since Breakaway has several cities, local acts are added to every city, giving attendees the opportunity to discover local artists.
- Despite the festival being small, they still delivered some fun activities and lounges you could hang out in. I played Skee-Ball and checked out McDonald’s land! There were also several vendors throughout.
- At some festivals, the VIP areas don’t give you the view that they promised, but at Breakaway, the VIP sections certainly had great views of the stage and access to several amenities. If you’re looking for an elevated experience, purchasing VIP at Breakaway may be worth it.

I always love music festivals, but what I loved about Breakaway was interacting with so many kind people! I received so many compliments, had some fun conversations, and traded several trinkets. I appreciated that there was a diverse lineup with multiple big names and some local flair.
I want to give kudos to the festival organizers because Breakaway was well planned, and even in the face of some dangerous weather, the organizers did an amazing job of keeping things together and ensuring everyone was informed of time changes. All around, I recommend attending Breakaway if you’re into a low-key EDM festival vibe.

As always…
Stay fabulous,
Jenna Leigh Berry
