I have seen Subtronics in many circumstances, but there was a huge difference between seeing him at a festival and at a solo show. An entirely new energy entered the atmosphere. One that made me have a deeper understanding of why Subtronics is one of the most desired artists to see live. Beyond the intense lasers and heavy drops, there’s more feeling.
The Impact of Subtronics
I have always had some kind of profound love for Subtronics but after seeing him in Boston, Massachusetts, it changed my appreciation for him. Jesse (Subtronics) has clearly worked hard to create a space for all to not only exist and have fun but to recover from the stress they’re facing in everyday life.
According to a study done by healthcare tech company Tebra, Subtronics music is the most stress-relieving out of any other EDM artist. This information came from a survey done with 1000 Americans analyzing over 150,000 songs to discover the relationship between genre and emotional wellbeing. Subtronics told EDM.com, “I feel like the pathway to making long-lasting and impactful music is music that tells a story and really has sentimental weight to it.”
Something about those insane heavy drops makes you lose your mind and turn to your friend next to you with the look of absolute astonishment on your face. With the evolution of AI and newer technology it’s becoming harder to find true visionaries in any music scene. You know, the ones that truly craft a show that makes you want to experience it over and over again. The kind of show you want to replay in your head but you know it will never live up to what you saw.
Subtronics is THAT artist. His sets are unique, evolving, and make you feel like you can leave behind any weight your carrying. Even if EDM isn’t necessarily your cup of tea, there’s something in Subtronics sets for anyone. He uses popular samples that are relatable and plenty danceable.
